Booking Terms

How booking, paying, changing and cancelling a trip with Detox Hospitality works. Last updated 29 October 2026.

1. How booking works

These terms apply to every trip you book with Detox Hospitality. Sending an enquiry doesn't commit you to anything. We talk through your plans, then send a written quote with your dates, hotels, inclusions and the total price.

  • Your booking is confirmed once we receive your deposit and send you a written confirmation.
  • Payment methods: bank transfer, UPI or a secure payment link. We send the details with your quote.
  • The person who books must be 18 or over, and agrees to these terms for everyone in the booking.

2. Prices

  • Prices on our website are per person, based on two people sharing a room, unless a package says per couple or per skier. They include 5% GST. TCS doesn't apply to trips within India.
  • Each package shows a starting price for each hotel category. Your quote gives the exact price for your dates, since hotels charge more at busy times.
  • Children under 2 sharing their parents' bed travel free. Children aged 2 to 11 pay a child rate, and anyone 12 or over pays the adult price.
  • Travelling alone or want a room to yourself? We quote a single-room supplement.
  • Once your booking is confirmed, the price doesn't change, unless taxes or government fees change.

3. Paying for your trip

Holidays and bike trips

50% deposit to confirm. The balance is due 30 days before you travel.

Treks and ski courses

50% deposit to confirm. The balance is due 30 days before the trip starts.

Yatras with helicopter flights

Helicopter tickets are paid in full when we book them. For the rest of the trip, a 50% deposit, with the balance 30 days before you travel.

Booking within 30 days of travel

The full amount is due when you book.

4. If you cancel a holiday, yatra or bike trip

Tell us in writing, by email or WhatsApp. The charge depends on how long before the trip we receive your message:

45 days or more before you travel

10% of the trip price

30 to 44 days before

25%

15 to 29 days before

50%

7 to 14 days before

75%

Less than 7 days before, or a no-show

100%

Some costs can't be refunded once they're paid: flights and train tickets, gondola and helicopter tickets, permits, and hotels that ask for full payment on peak dates (such as Christmas and New Year, Diwali and Durga Puja). If these come to more than the cancellation charge, we charge what they cost instead.

5. If you cancel a trek

30 days or more before the trek

10% of the trek fee, or a full credit for another trek within 12 months

15 to 29 days before

50%, or a full credit for another trek within 12 months

Less than 15 days before, or a no-show

100%

6. If you cancel a ski course

45 days or more before the course

10% of the course price

15 to 44 days before

50%

Less than 15 days before, or a no-show

100%

7. Helicopter tickets for yatras

Helicopter seats for the Amarnath and Vaishno Devi yatras are sold by the shrine boards, in each pilgrim's name, and follow their rules:

  • Amarnath: the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board's tickets can't be cancelled or changed. The fare is refunded only if the flight is cancelled for weather, and only if the ticket is stamped as cancelled at the helipad counter.
  • Vaishno Devi: the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board refunds 70% of the fare for tickets cancelled online at least 4 days before the flight. Later cancellations aren't refunded.
  • We pass on any refund the shrine board makes as soon as we receive it. The rest of your yatra (hotels and transport) follows the holiday cancellation charges above.

8. Changing your booking

  • You can change your dates once for free if you ask at least 30 days before you travel. Any difference in price applies. Later changes count as a cancellation.
  • You can change a traveller's name for free until 7 days before you travel, except on tickets issued in a fixed name, such as flights and helicopter seats.

9. Weather, closures, and if we change or cancel your trip

If weather, landslides, road closures, curfews or government orders stop your trip before it starts, choose new dates, a full credit valid for 12 months, or a refund minus costs we can't recover. Once a trip has started, we reroute you wherever we can. Extra nights, meals and transport this causes are paid by the guest, and unused services are refunded only if our suppliers refund us.

If we cancel your trip for any other reason, you get a full refund. If we have to make a major change before you travel, you can accept it, choose another trip, or cancel for a full refund.

10. How refunds are paid

  • Refunds go back to your original payment method within 10 working days.
  • There's no refund for no-shows, services you don't use, or leaving a trip early.

11. Treks, skiing and riding

  • Treks: send a medical certificate signed by a doctor, a signed declaration, and proof that you can walk 5 km in 35 minutes. Children under 15 trek with a parent; 15 to 17-year-olds need a parent's consent. Our trek leader can turn anyone back for safety, and their decision is final. Days missed aren't refunded, and evacuation and extra nights are at the trekker's cost.
  • Ski courses: nobody can guarantee snow. If there isn't enough, or the gondola is shut when your course should start, choose new dates the same season or a full credit. Lesson days lost during the course are made up where possible, or the lesson fee for those days is refunded (not hotels or transport).
  • Bike trips: riders need a licence for a geared motorcycle and must wear a helmet. Rented bikes need a refundable damage deposit. Riders pay for damage, fines, and for getting the bike back if they leave early. If a high pass closes, we reroute or wait, and extra nights and fuel are paid by the riders.

12. Insurance and documents

  • We strongly recommend travel insurance for every trip. It's required for treks (with high-altitude evacuation cover), ski courses and bike trips.
  • Carry a government photo ID. Hotels ask for it, and it can be checked on the road.
  • Some trips need permits or registrations, such as Inner Line Permits in parts of Ladakh, or yatra registration, RFID cards and health certificates. We tell you what's needed and help you get them; you're responsible for having them with you.
